Week 14: Blueberry Lemonade

Side view of a lemon.Time for a beverage!  With the summer heat upon us, I figured it would be appropriate to switch it up this week and make something refreshing to drink.  Perfect week for it, as this week, Lentil is the size of a lemon (and I thought lemonade would be more of a crowd-pleaser than one of the upcoming fruits and veggies….bell pepper juice? Turnipade? Gross).

I found this delectable-looking blueberry lemonade on one of the blogs I follow.  Get ready to start salivating as soon as you open the link.

The Verdict

Difficulty: Easy.  Just some boiling and squeezing, then mix it up!

Taste:  Very refreshing, as expected.  Next time, I would add a touch more simple syrup than the recipe called for, since I like my sweet things SWEET, but for those who enjoy more of a tart taste, it would be perfect.

Recommendations:  If you are a genius like me (aka you hate to waste perfectly good fruit and you never say “no” to an extra dessert), you will reserve the blueberries after you strain them, sprinkle some granola on top, and nuke it for 30 seconds.  Unexpected bonus crisp!

To try another day:

Sparkling Cherry Lemonade (Could totally be made with frozen, all-ready-pitted cherries, by the way, and be even easier)

Strawberry Basil Meyer Lemonade (Umm WHAT…about to make a girl forget about alcohol and embrace the mocktail)
